This artwork, Odysseus with Bow, comes from my continuing series exploring mythic strength, identity, and the tactile beauty of paint itself. I originally painted it in oil on canvas, inspired by the moment in Homer’s Odyssey when Odysseus, returned in disguise, strings his great bow and proves who he truly is. It’s one of the most powerful images of self-knowledge and focus in Western storytelling — and I wanted to capture that moment of concentration and physical control.
The original painting was built with thick layers of oil, heavy impasto, and directional brushwork that follow the muscles and the pull of the bow. In this reproduction, those marks translate beautifully as visible texture in the printed image. You can see the rhythm of the brush, the grain of the canvas, and the tension in the figure’s pose — all preserved in high resolution on premium matte paper.
