FREE SHIPPING Shipping takes 3-4 Weeks This ships from Round Lake Beach, Illinois. A suburb outside of Chicago. I use UPS and sometimes US Post.

This painting is an alla prima style painting that was painted over a rough sketch made with crayon. If you would like to see a video of how I painted this please visit, https://www.instagram.com/p/C22vox9OWI7/

One of my “missions” with what I paint is to represent people who don’t usually get represented in main stream art. In this case, another part of this idea is also to help me to understand that I’m still a valid, attractive, male as I age. To this end, I like to paint older men.

Another element that I find important is composition. For example, in this painting you can see that the figures head is tucked into the upper right-hand corner and the arms are cropped on the left hand side. Additionally, the figure itself is touching or “kissing” the edges of the painting and I’ve cropped down to the most important elements. In this case, it’s his torso upper arm and beautiful gray hair and beard. I try to condense the images down into what I’ve found to be the most attractive elements..

Since this is on stretched canvas with 1 ½ inch wide stretcher bars and the canvas is wrapped around the back, you don’t necessarily need to frame this piece. You could just stick a nail in the wall and Hang the piece on the wall. Another way of finishing the painting off and making it fit with your décor would be to paint the edges. If you do choose to frame this painting, please don’t go to a framer since they are very expensive, you could easily buy an open back frame from a website likeDickblick.com or Amazon since this is a standard size frame.
