This print comes from my painting Super Host. I wanted to capture the strength and presence of the male back, turning away from the viewer but still fully commanding the space. The figure is partially dressed, with underwear sliding low on the hips, giving the piece a sensual tension between modesty and exposure. The head turns toward a glowing patch of light, suggesting a window or doorway, which contrasts with the cooler blue tones of the background.
The brushwork is bold and deliberate—I used bristle brushes to create directional marks that follow the muscles across the shoulders and spine, while the background has wide vertical strokes that suggest curtains, blinds, or even stage scenery. The warm flesh tones pop against the cooler blue environment, making the figure feel almost illuminated from within.
Stylistically, this painting connects to both Baroque traditions—where light and shadow (chiaroscuro) sculpt the body—and modern figurative work, where brushstrokes are celebrated as much as the figure itself. I was also thinking about cinematic framing here: the cropped composition, the glow of light, the way the viewer is positioned almost voyeuristically, watching from behind.
For me, Super Host is about presence, desire, and the way environment interacts with the body. The pose suggests intimacy, but the painterly surface keeps it raw and expressive.
