Chuck and Lady Luck – Set of 2 Original Oil Paintings, 2008, Linen, 18x24 and 16x20 Inches by Kenney Mencher
FREE SHIPPING Shipping takes 3-4 Weeks This ships from Round Lake Beach, Illinois. A suburb outside of Chicago. I use UPS and sometimes US Post.
Both are on gallery wrapped linen canvases so there won’t be a need to frame it.
In 2008, I spent a few days photographing Chuck and Valerie and ended up creating a whole narrative series of paintings from those sessions. I collaged different shots together and started laying it out like a picture book—but between other projects (including my Renovated Reputations show), I never finished publishing it. Still, I really loved these characters and kept many of the paintings in my home over the years.
These two works—"Chuck and Lady Luck, Waking Up" (18x24 inches) and "Chuck Asleep" (16x20 inches)—were tucked away in my painting racks until I started going through everything for Fresh Finds. Chuck passed away almost six years ago, but you can still "adopt" him with this bundled set of related images.
Both pieces are painted in oil on gallery-stretched linen and capture a quiet, intimate moment between a man and his dog. They’re full of warmth, soft light, and the kind of loose brushwork I was working with at the time. The paintings are being sold as a pair.
