When I was a teen studying at the High School of Art and Design, I had a teacher, Irwin (Greeny) Greenberg who introduced us to a pen and wash technique used in the Renaissance and Baroque periods by artists such as Rembrandt. The technique is to take a pen filled with a water soluble ink and then enhanced with washes of watercolor. It's a fast technique that allows the artist to develop shading and a painterly technique.
I use various techniques to explore some themes that are less of an investment in time and materials. Sometimes I take these works and use them as studies for larger works.
Sometimes the subject matter is something that is intriguing and important to me. I try to portray or explore subjects that aren't always depicted by mainstream culture, gay people, gender fluidity and non-binary themes, people of color and finding the beauty in older subjects.
The size is a standard US frame size and can be framed inexpensively. Try buying a frame on the net.
