This ships from Round Lake Beach, Illinois. A suburb outside of Chicago. I use UPS and sometimes US Post.
This print, titled After Dinner, is a limited-edition intaglio and aquatint artwork I made in 1994. It measures 8x10 inches and is number 5 in an edition of 8 prints. The scene shows two figures standing in a doorway, captured in a casual yet intriguing moment. I was aiming for something atmospheric—like catching a quiet conversation just after a meal.
Stylistically, this piece blends realism with stylization. The setting is naturalistic, using realistic elements like accurate shadows and a believable sense of space. However, I simplified the forms using geometric shapes, especially noticeable in the angularity of the figures' faces and bodies. Their proportions are realistic but slightly simplified. Details are intentionally reduced to create a mood rather than exact likenesses. The faces are stylized—simplified with clear planes and shapes—while the clothing and bodies appear naturalistic in their posture and proportion, standing casually, with one figure slightly turning towards us, which adds a natural contrapposto pose.
Composition-wise, it's asymmetrical, balanced visually by the strong vertical lines of the doorway on the left and the figures placed slightly off-center, creating a subtle drama. It loosely follows the "rule of thirds," guiding your eyes around the scene and lending a natural, informal feel.
This piece reflects my ongoing interest in intimate human interactions and quiet, everyday moments, exploring relationships and the subtleties of body language.
