My Egypt! How I used an art historical source to make a painting,

I teach art history at Ohlone College in Fremont and one of the things I've always been fascinated with is how to incorporate art historical sources into painting.  Egyptian art is one of my favorite periods to teach and so I've always been taken with this sculpture of Menkaure and His Wife, Queen Khamerernebty 2515 BCE Giza, Egypt Dynasty 4.  In reaction to it and in a reaction to my niece and nephew who have African American heritage and Jewish heritages.  I thought a painting that incorporated them and the idea of whether or not the glass is "half empty or half full" for them would be cool.
